FACOPI Program Key Interventions:

In relation with this core program, we aim to implement the following interventions for advancing and preserving the complete sustainable healing, well-being, and a brighter future for grieving and vulnerable children and adolescents in the Magu district:

a) Supporting Parents and Caregivers:

  • We organize simple, practical sessions where caregivers can learn how to better support children and adolescents emotionally, communicate well, and guide them in a positive way.
  • We empower families with entrepreneurship and practical skills training to prepare them to be able to respond to the needs of the bereaved children and adolescents under their care and reduce households’ poverty.

b) Strengthening Family Relationships:

We provide parents and caregivers with learning sessions on good and ethical parenting, practical guidance on supporting children and adolescents emotionally and promote family dialogue and relationship-building activities. Also, we bring families together to reflect on how they relate to each other and learn small but meaningful ways to build trust, understanding, and care at home.

c) Community Conversations and Awareness on bereaved and vulnerable Children and Adolescents situations:

We bring community members together to talk openly about issues affecting children—such as grief, mental health, poverty, illiteracy and protection—and encourage more supportive attitudes.

d) Engaging Communities on Child and Adolescent Protection:

  • We empower and support communities to better recognize risks facing grieving and vulnerable children and adolescents and respond early to prevent harm, abuse, or neglect.
  • We organize community discussions and reflection meetings, seminars and workshops on child and adolescent well-being and protection and increase awareness to reduce stigma and encouraging collective responsibility for children and adolescents’ protection against abuse, exploitation, violence and discrimination.

e) Building a Supportive and Referral Systems Around the Child and Adolescent:

We link children, adolescents and families to available social welfare services, strengthen local support structures and encourage coordination between stakeholders both at local and international levels to support the consistency holistic care for sustainable healing and empowerment of grieving and vulnerable children and adolescents.
